This piece is what causes the failure.
Made of pot metal, just the normal opening and closing of
your RV door stresses it until it snaps without warning. Until now, your only solution was to buy a complete new handle for $80-$140. That's fine except that it has the same breakage prone part in it. Trimark does offer a complete new handle with a steel striker for $155-$210
